The College of New Jersey and Sodexo Campus Services anticipate long-term agreement, upgrade of dining options and student center

The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is very pleased to be working toward a long-term partnership with Sodexo Campus Services that will enhance TCNJ’s dining options and bring about a significant renovation of the Brower Student Center. While the agreement has yet to be finalized, TCNJ’s Board of Trustees has authorized the execution of a multi-year contract based on a framework that has already been mutually agreed upon.

As the culmination of TCNJ’s current dining-services contract approached, the College solicited bids from multiple vendors and established a committee of faculty, staff, and students to evaluate proposals. The result of that process is an agreement that is exciting for both The College of New Jersey campus community and Sodexo. Among the benefits of this partnership are near-term, enhanced dining options for TCNJ students, faculty, staff, and visitors as well as a future renovation of the College’s student center. It is anticipated that, by fall of 2013, TCNJ’s Library Café will be upgraded, as will the catering pantry in the School of Education building and the food service station in Armstrong Hall. Additionally, a bistro will be introduced within the Brower Student Center. Subsequent upgrades expected for fall of 2014 include an overhaul of the T-Dubs dining area in Travers and Wolfe Halls that will offer a diverse range of menu options. During the following year, a major renovation of TCNJ’s Brower Student Center, including but extending well beyond its dining spaces, will take place.

Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Vicky Triponey said of the anticipated agreement, “This collaboration will greatly augment the dining options available to students, as well as the rest of the campus community. It also will generate the resources necessary to substantially renovate our student center, which is the living room of our campus. That is something about which we are thrilled, because it will enable us to provide an environment conducive to strengthening and supporting student engagement and learning through the co-curricular experience. We worked with Sodexo not long ago to transform TCNJ’s main dining hall, the Atrium at Eickhoff, and that project was both a resounding success and an award-winning venture. So, we are eager to move forward with this new and even more impactful initiative.”

Sodexo General Manager for TCNJ Patrice Mendes added, “We have built a true partnership with The College of New Jersey and are very pleased to be extending our relationship far into the future. Sodexo Campus Services views this agreement as an opportunity to build something that will truly move the campus dining industry forward, and we think TCNJ is the perfect place to launch such an innovative and comprehensive project.”
